it's amazing that anyone actually buys a house at all!

ok...so it's not so bad, but it's still stressful!

We had the home inspection on Saturday. We knew going into it that the garage was going to need work, and that the roof has a year or so left in it. The inspection found a few other "homeowner's special" repairs that need to get fixed -- usually around the wiring in the garage.

Being that we expected the inspection to turn out the way it did, we were planning on a little renegotiation, which we did, and it was accepted -- after a sit-down, and a few back-and-forths.

And then came the mortgage application! We had to go to the bank this morning for to open our application, and bring every piece of paper that we've ever seen, or that had ever seen us, or might have blown by us in the street at any time in our lives. Ok...so, maybe it was a couple of months of bank statements, a couple of tax returns, cancelled rent checks, a pay sub or two, and a sizable amount of DNA to help them determine if they want to take our first AND second born children, or if just one will do.

I dressed up for the occasion, which of course has prompted hushed convos in my office wondering if I was out interviewing. Sure I was! I don't have enough things changing right now, so I figured that a new job would spice things up to where they should be...

The funny thing about the mortgage application process is that we passed. Ok, that's not the funny part. That's the part that we should've been confident about walking in, but no matter how solid you think you are they have ways of breaking you: dress me up in something other than my normal clothes, send me on a scavenger hunt for pieces of information that I know you already have in my credit report, and make me sign 100 sheets of paper...just because you can!

Our loan rep. said that short of getting arrested for conspiracy to prune a shrub or going on a wild, 7 state shopping spree in the next 7 days, he could see any reason for us to not get the loan. Now, if only I can get a refund on the all expenses paid tour to the Mall of America this weekend!

For all that's gone on this weekend, I don't feel as stressed as I think I will come the 29th when we're waiting to hear back from the bank.

what they said

Don't even joke about taking a trip to the Mall of America! It tricks me into thinking you might really be there, which would rock, because I work 5 minutes from there. :)

Same thing happened to us. We weren't confident at all, even after the mortgage woman told us we were a shoo-in. In fact, even that didn't do it until we closed. Then we were finally confident about getting the loan. :)

A payday loan is a quick and confidential way to obtain a cash advance until your next paycheck. It is perfect for emergency situation when are short of cash and need money quickly. Payday loans take care of your short-term cash emergencies that traditional financial lending institutions do not. Your financial requests are processed quickly and are always treated with confidentiality.

the term "reading" should be taken lightly (more):
The Illuminatus Trilogy: The Eye in the Pyramid, the Golden Apple & Leviathan by Robert Shea, Robert Anton Wilson
Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser
currently "reading" for classes
I should probably be paying more attention to these:
The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter, Rennard Strickland
The Indian Heritage of America by Alvin M. Josephy
Two Old Women: An Alaska Legend of Betrayal, Courage and Survival by V. Wallis
